Here is a real treasure, an early 20th C. brightly colored postcard showing (from left) the old Buffalo Public Library (architect C.I. Eidlitz, in use 1887-1963), Lafayette Square’s prominent Soldiers & Sailors monument (1882-83) commemorating the Civil War, the Hotel Lafayette (architect Louise Blanchard Bethune, opened 1905), and the Mooney & Brisbane Building/now Brisbane Building (architect Milton E. Beebe & Son, built 1894-96), the largest mercantile and office building in the city when it opened, and later home of Kleinhans Men’s Clothing Store and S.H. Knox’s 5 & 10.
